What is Future Stars?

Future Stars is Sussex RTC’s entry-level development programme for boys and girls in Years 4 and 5 who are ready to step up beyond school or grassroots football.

Designed for motivated young players with existing playing experience, the programme introduces athletes to professional coaching standards, higher expectations, and a more challenging training environment.

Future Stars forms the foundation stage of the Sussex RTC pathway, supporting players as they build the skills, confidence, and mindset required to progress into Junior Premier League (JPL) football, where appropriate.

THE JPL EXPERIENCE

The JPL Experience is a short development block for U11 girls who want to understand what JPL football involves before making decisions about next season.

Players will train in a JPL environment up to Easter, with match opportunities offered to those ready for JPL Saturday fixtures. Others will continue to train within the programme to support their development.

Who is Future Stars For?

Future Stars is designed for boys and girls in Years 4 and 5 who are ready to take on a bigger challenge and train in a more structured, demanding environment.

This programme is suited to players who:

• Have existing football experience (school, grassroots, or private coaching)

• Are motivated, coachable, and eager to improve

• Respond well to structure, challenge, and higher expectations

• Want to test themselves as part of a clear development pathway

Note: Places are limited. Entry is via application and coach assessment to ensure the programme is the right fit for the player.

Future Stars forms the foundation stage of the Sussex RTC pathway.

Players who demonstrate the required attitude, ability, and readiness may be invited to progress into Sussex RTC development squads, where they will continue their journey within the Junior Premier League (JPL) framework.

What Happens after the Program?

For players who are not yet ready to progress, clear feedback and next-step guidance will be provided, with opportunities to remain connected through future training and development phases.
